An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cognos BI Specialist within the IS department of CalMac Ferries Limited.

Role Overview:-

Assisting in the planning, implementation, delivery and continued improvement of the Enterprise information management team, in line with internal standards and processes.

Provide expert knowledge on Cognos and SQL Server solutions design and developments.

Provide support of Cognos and SQL server environments and solutions.

Provide data modelling and data warehouse design and modelling knowledge and support.

Principal accountabilities:-

Design and development of Cognos Framework models

Design and development of Cognos BI and reports

Design and development of ETL packages (SSIS)

Monitor, manage and administer the Cognos and SQL server data warehouse environments

Participate and contribute to all areas of data warehouse design, development and support

Participate in requirements gathering

Participate in Data Modelling activities

Maintain source\version control

Carry out and support testing

Participate in on-going continuous improvement activities

Qualifications, skills and experience:-

Degree or relevant qualification

Appropriate professional certification

Experience of Cognos 10.2 (Framework Manager, Cognos BI, Report Studio, Even Studio) - 2 years

Experience of SQL Server 2012 (RDBMS, TSQL and SSIS) - 2 years

Experience of Master Data Models and approaches - 2 years

Good understanding of data warehouse methodologies (Kimball)

Full project Lifecycle experience using waterfall and Agile

Good understanding of project management principles and methodologies and extensive experience working on Data Warehouse projects

Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously

Minimum of 5 years' experience working in a similar role within a multiple supplier environment

Eagerness to learn and the ability to enhance knowledge of upcoming compliance methods and options    in order to adequately address business security needs

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Able to work under pressure and think clearly in challenging situations in a logical manner

Team player; highly motivated; proactive

Good relationship builder with strong diplomacy and negotiating skills

Works well in ambiguous and changing environment, and ability to research subjects, with a       commitment to provide continuous improvement

Flexibility in approach, and comfortable within a fluid organisational structure that requires team work and    self-sufficiency

Ability to work with minimal supervision
