Volunteering Hebrides
The CalMac Community Fund supported the Going Places young peoples' activity project within Volunteering Hebrides' Embark Project.
The award helped to support the purchase of a Vanraam Fun2Go etrike which supports young people with additional support needs to enjoy cycling. The project provided opportunities where no opportunity existed for these young people. In turn, the project helped support and increase participation in cycling activities and in particular, group activities and events with led cycle rides and cycling treasure hunts.
For young people with disabilities, there was a 100% increase in participation. The side by side tandem trike made cycling possible for all of these project participants. The cycle was also made available to schools locally and we visited and helped support cycling with vulnerable children.
