Fèis an Earraich
Fèis na Linne is a community-led organisation based in Sleat on the Isle of Skye creating opportunities for young people to participate in and celebrate the Gaelic language, music and arts. We wish to offer an annual programme of events for children aged 8 to 18.
With support from the CalMac Community Fund they will organise a series of monthly workshops offering young people the opportunity to learn traditional music, Gaelic song, drama and art. They will provide instrumental and group lessons taught through the medium of Gaelic, including master classes and group work classes for more advanced young musicians and singers. They will work with musicians of the highest calibre and draw upon the skills and talents of the local Gaelic community to place local songs, stories and knowledge at the heart of our teaching.
They will offer a space where young people can come together to learn new skills, play music, perform and socialise in a collective way. It is believed these activities can positively impact young people's health and well being and improve their confidence.
