RATE OF PAY:                     £9.32 / hour


LOCATION:                          Largs


HOURS PER WEEK:           23. 5 hours contract, 2 nights over 7 
                                             Thursday and Friday nights
                                             11 hours 45 minute shift per night

ROLE OVERVIEW


As Nightwatchperson, you will be responsible to the Port Manager. Your duties will include patrols, checking mooring ropes, gangway, safety nets and securing ropes. You will be responsible for any unauthorised person/s on board, call out of ship's crew when required, maintaining mess and engine rooms and complying with all instructions as listed in the Night Order Book. 
The successful applicant will have a flexible approach to working as the shift pattern will be variable and dependant on local circumstances. 

 

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY TASKS


•    Responsible for security of vessel and crew overnight 
•    Assisting in the vessel berthing for evening arrival and overnight stay
•    Gangway to be monitored and safe access maintained
•    Checking; moorings, security doors
•    Restrict access to unauthorised visitors
•    Any other duties requested by vessel
•    The security of pier buildings and vessels
•    Maintaining a telephone watch in case of emergency call-outs by Fire, Police and Ambulance
•    Call-out of crew in the event of an emergency or bad weather which would require the ferries to leave port for more sheltered conditions
•    Any other duties required by the Port Manager
