National Autistic Society Sensory Bags & Preparing to travel storyboards

boy with father on top deck

CalMac have recently been working with the National Autistic Society (Largs Branch) following recent funds granted to NAS from Transport Scotland as part of the Ferry Accessibility Fund. The aim is to raise awareness of Autism and improve the experiences of families and individuals travelling throughout our network. As part of our project roll out, we have introduced Sensory Bags onboard both our small and major vessels. This will be trialled on the Clyde routes initially and then eventually go out to the wider network.

Preparing for travel Storyboards

'Preparing for travel' storyboards can be found in each sensory bag onboard the vessel. These can also be located at the relevant ports.

You can download a PDF copy of the booklet below prior to your journey.

Covid-19

As we continue to move out of Covid-19 restrictions, we still want to ensure that we maintain enhanced cleaning on our vessels and take a cautious approach when travelling. While some safety measures remain on our vessels, we kindly ask that each sensory bag and contents are thoroughly wiped down and sanitised after each use. There will be sanitary wipes provided on all small vessels. If travelling on one of our larger vessels, the sensory bag will be cleaned when returned to the retail shop.

We thank you for your cooperation
