Covid-19 Customer Updates and Travel Advice

Latest Customer Update Change to Scottish Government COVID restrictions - 16 April 2021

Customer Update - 16 April 2021

The current Scottish Government guidance is to 'Stay Local'. Travelling for non-essential reasons can only be done within your own local authority area. From today, 16 April, these restrictions will change further to allow for travel across local authority boundaries to meet friends and family outdoors, for recreation or exercise.  Full guidance is available via gov.scot  or use the Scottish Government postcode checker to find out what applies to you.

We are very much looking forward to playing a role in reconnecting our customers with friends and family.

Although travel restrictions are beginning to change, our capacity does remain far lower than in 'normal times' since strict official physical distancing and additional cleaning protocols remain in place. This means that the number of passengers we can carry, and the frequency of our sailings are much less than normal. In addition, our winter timetable remains in operation until 26 April.

If you plan to travel with us, in line with restrictions, please always plan ahead as much as you can and be prepared. Specifically, book in advance where possible, and on our 'turn up and go' services, your wait times may be extended for the reasons outlined above. Please also follow all safer travel rules - these remain as important as ever and we need everyone to play their part to help protect one another, and the communities we serve.

As the country continues to move through the planned easing of lockdown, a degree of uncertainty is likely to remain and so, to support our customers and provide you with greater flexibility, we are extending the temporary change to our cancellation policy. Customers with existing bookings on any sailing until 30 June 2021, who can no longer travel, will be able to cancel their reservation and we will waive the £10 administration fee.

When the next set of changes to official travel restrictions are confirmed, we will keep our customers informed via our website and social media channels.  You can stay up to date with us by checking and following our @calmac_updates Twitter page, and we will continue to share the latest travel guidance available via our regularly updated website FAQs.
