CalMac Latest Update 19 June 2020

Customer Update 19 June 2020 - Scotland moving to Phase 2

Yesterday, the First Minister announced that Scotland is ready to begin entering phase 2 of easing lockdown restrictions. We've been sharing regular updates with our customers as those changes take place.

We will continue to operate an until at least 30 June 2020. While we work to establish the next phase of our timetable, no future bookings will be available until at least 30 June 2020.

We are taking our lead from Transport Scotland and the Scottish Government and while that work goes on, there are some changes to ferry travel that we want to share with you.

Your safety and the safety of others

We are implementing travel safety guidelines from the Scottish Government and Transport Scotland - including the latest advice on face coverings. With some exceptions, from Monday 22 June, face coverings will become mandatory on all public transport - including enclosed areas on ferries.

Our capacity

The travel safety guidelines from the Scottish Government and Transport Scotland require us to implement social distancing measures on our ferries. This means that our capacity will be dramatically constrained.

The nature of ferry travel

We are still operating an essential lifeline services timetable, providing a service for key workers and essential services - however there are some changes to the nature of travel.

-        Customers who wish to use ferry travel to visit family can now do so, in line with Scottish Government advice.

-        Travel on our ferries for recreation or sports is not possible - please continue to follow official guidance.

There are fewer sailings available and our capacity is significantly constrained. Please continue to be responsible when considering travel. Your decision to travel could impact someone else's ability to travel - for example key workers and those travelling for medical reasons.
