Are there Test and Protect pilots currently running on your routes?
CalMac is supporting Transport Scotland and NHS Scotland with a Check In Scotland Test and Protect pilot on our Wemyss Bay - Rothesay route and from 1 March, this pilot will be operational on the Gourock - Dunoon route.
You can find out full details at transport.gov.scot/checkin .
This pilot is part of the new, voluntary transport.gov.scot/checkin service and app. It works with NHS Scotland's Test and Protect contact tracing system to:
· collect your details
· alert you if you have come into close contact with someone at a business or venue who later tests positive for COVID-19.
The Check In Scotland service and app is based on a QR code scanning system and works exactly the same way as that seen in cafés, bars and restaurants.
The results of this pilot will assist Transport Scotland and NHS Scotland in establishing whether this technology can be used successfully as part of a Test and Protect strategy on public transport.
The first part of the pilot began on the Wemyss Bay - Rothesay route on 25 January. This route was chosen since for the pilot since it is the longest non-bookable route on the network with a sustained level of foot passengers year-round.
Taking part is open to foot passengers over the age of 12 and is entirely optional.
If you are planning to be a passenger on this route, you can find out more about the Check In Scotland system and app at transport.gov.scot/checkin .
