Customer Update: MV Hebrides 19 May 2022

MV Hebrides Update - 19 May 2022

MV Hebrides which operates the Uig, Tarbert, Lochmaddy route has been withdrawn from service following confirmed damage to the hull. She made contact with Lochmaddy pier while berthing during high tide on Thursday evening (18 May 2022). All passengers disembarked as normal; however, the vessel will need to undergo repair in Greenock. We sincerely apologise for this significant disruption in what is an already difficult situation.

Timescales for her repair and return to service will be shared once a full assessment has been carried out in Greenock. We have reviewed redeployment options today, and further support and advice is provided to our customers below.

We are in the process of working through sailings in date order and if your sailing has been disrupted we will be in touch.

Uig - Tarbert - Lochmaddy

MV Hebridean Isles will be redeployed and will provide one sailing between Oban/Lochboisdale on Friday 20 May, before repositioning to Lochmaddy to pick up service to Uig on the morning of Saturday 21 May.

MV Hebridean Isles will then operate a Lochmaddy - Uig service only due to capacity and dead weight constraints. Tarbert traffic will be diverted via Stornoway - Ullapool. Full details are provided on our service updates pages.

MV Loch Seaforth will provide one additional return between Stornoway-Ullapool on Saturday night. Passenger capacity has also been increased on the overnight freight service on Thursday 19 and Sunday 22 May to accommodate the displaced Tarbert traffic. It's not possible to increase capacity on Friday's freight as the vessel is carrying dangerous goods.

Barra - Eriskay

MV Loch Alainn will operate additional sailings on this route from 21 May and an amended timetable will be in operation. Please check our service updates pages for full details.

Kennacraig - Islay

MV Hebridean Isles will be redeployed from Friday 20 May, and will be replaced by MV Isle of Arran - an amended timetable will operate on this route on Friday 20 May. Full details are available on our service updates pages.

Ardrossan - Brodick

An amended timetable will operate on the Ardrossan-Brodick with a single vessel from Friday 20 May while the second vessel is redeployed to another route. The Claonaig - Lochranza service will operate with a second vessel for increased capacity during this time. For those new to the Claonaig - Lochranza route, we've shared some useful information to be aware of in a dedicated FAQ. Full details are available on our service updates pages.

Ardrossan - Campbeltown

Unfortunately, while MV Isle of Arran is deployed to support lifeline services elsewhere on the network, the Ardrossan-Campbeltown service will be withdrawn from Friday 20 May.
