Customer Update - Update on delay to MV Caledonian Isles annual overhaul - February 2023
**This information has now been updated, please see the latest update from 09 March 2023 Thank you. **
Following on from our previous update on 27 January, we can confirm that MV Caledonian Isles, which usually operates the Arran-Ardrossan route, will remain in overhaul and is now expected to return to service on 1 March.
Routine inspections of MV Caledonian Isles main engines have identified concerns with crankshaft and turbocharger components that must be resolved prior to completing the overhaul, to reduce the risk of failure in service and ensure the safety of our colleagues and customers. The MV Clansman has newly identified steelwork corrosion, which is being replaced during her annual overhaul.
This delay, and subsequent effect on vessel deployment means there will be an impact across the network, with Arran, Mull, Islay, Coll, Tiree, Colonsay and Hebrides communities affected. Our initial deployment plans were in operation until 16 February, and the second phase of deployment plans will be up to and including 28 February.
We are disappointed about the delays and we sincerely apologise to our customers. Our teams are working hard to reduce the impact of disruption across the network, and your ongoing support and patience are appreciated.
You can stay updated via the service status pages of our website, and our @CalMac_Updates Twitter channel which will hold the latest information. These will be regularly reviewed and updated as works progress. Our team is regularly engaging with communities to keep them updated.
