13 November 2024
Following the news that MV Caledonian Isles - one of our major vessels - requires further repairs, we have planned for the vessel being unavailable for the duration for the winter timetable period. And with this being the case, we have published a new vessel deployment plan for the period 16 November 2024 - 27 March 2025. Below, we've shared information for customers on how this will affect services between Oban-Craignure, Mull as well as connecting services to Iona from Fionnphort, Mull.
We will need to extend the periods of winter when Mull will be served by a single vessel. Please check our service status pages for the very latest details.
In summary, from 16 November - 30 December a single vessel service will operate between Oban-Craignure on Mull, however, from 1 December - 30 December, this will be supported by an additional sailing on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday each week.
From 31 December 2024 - 4 January 2025, as per the published plan a two-vessel service will operate.
And from 5 January 2025, a single vessel service will operate until 6 February - as per the currently published plan and timetable.
From 7 February - 7 March a single vessel service will operate, in a change from the current plan, and this will continue through to 27 March 2025, as per the currently published plan.
The Fionnphort-Iona service will be amended to align with the timetable. Details can be found on the service status page for this route.
As with all plans, these are subject to change, however, we will continue to keep you informed throughout.
Work is now underway to update the booking system - and while this is ongoing amendments and new bookings for some sailings are unavailable. This is temporary, so please do check back later.
If you have a reservation in the system that is affected by any of these changes, we will be in contact with you in date order of sailings.

A combined service was implemented between Oban-Craignure and Lochboisdale because MV Lord of the Isles which ordinarily operates the South Uist service needed to be redeployed to support services elsewhere on the network.
MV Caledonian Isles, which had been due to return to Arran services has needed to undertake further unforeseen repairs. It is now expected this vessel will remain out of service until mid November at the earliest.
We are now reviewing our vessel deployment plan for the winter timetable period in light of this news. As other major vessels enter and exit annual maintenance, there is likely to be a need for regular changes to vessel deployment.
