Children aged 5 and under travel for free on our ferries. 

Children and young people aged 5-15 travel for half the adult fare.

If you’re travelling with young children and think you might need assistance to manage the pram, pushchair or luggage when boarding and disembarking, contact our Customer Engagement Centre 48 hours prior to your journey. Play areas

Children’s play areas are available on some of our larger vessels. You can check what’s available using our fleet pages. These also detail where to find the toilets, which ferries have a shop, restaurant or café on board.  

Window and deck seats 

Window and deck seats offer lots of opportunity to enjoy the experience of being on a ferry. Find out about the wildlife you might spot on your journey.

WiFi on board

A ferry big imagination 

Crewmates big and small can create an island adventure with their own brick ferry and crew - and a cuddle from Captain CalMac – available online and in our CalMac shops on our larger vessels.  

Children’s meals 

We have a fantastic child friendly menu, which available in the Mariner’s Cafés on our larger vessels. Youngsters can enjoy delicious children’s meals, freshly prepared in the galley. Plan ahead for your journey using our fleet pages.  

Baby changing facilities

Our vessels vary in size and layout – you can check what baby changing facilities are available on your ferry and in your port of departure arrival on our fleet and port pages. Don’t forget, if you need assistance boarding or leaving the vessel with little ones, we would be happy to help. Just let us know, 48 hours prior to your journey.

Travelling when pregnant

If you’d like a priority seat or need some assistance from our staff when you travel, Just tell us what you need when you book or contact us at least 48 hours prior to your journey by calling 0800 066 5000 or emailing assistanceteam@calmac.co.uk and we’ll be happy to help.   

There are no restrictions if you are pregnant however, you should feel fit and well in order to travel.
