Islay: Kennacraig - Port Ellen/Port Askaig

Due to MV Finlaggan overhaul the following timetable will operate between 15 April to 10 May as shown here

We will be running additional sailings for visitors travelling to and from Islay's Fèis Ìle in May and June 2024, following consultation with local communities, and other routes will be temporarily impacted as a result. Please see full timetable details here. Please note that timetables for this period are now available to book.

Port Askaig Closure 19 June 2024 until 30 July 2024: From 19 June - 30 July, an amended timetable will be in operation on this route to allow for the next phase of Caledonian Maritime Asset Limited's (CMAL) infrastructure works at Port Askaig Ferry Terminal. This timetable is also relevant for those who are intending to travel to/from Colonsay during that period as well as Islay. Read our customer update for further details - including information on how we'll support customers during the period.  

During this time , CMAL will close Port Askaig to allow the enabling works to go ahead - while Argyll and Bute Council will also carry out works alongside - all of which will accommodate the increased capacity of new, future vessels. Full timetable details can be found below.

Those customers who have bookings between 19 June - 30 July who are affected, will be contacted by our team who are working in date order. Thank you for your patience while we do this.

Kennacraig Ferry Terminal 08 January 2024 - 27 January 2025: From 08 January 2024, an amended timetable will be in operation to allow for the next phase of CMAL's infrastructure works at Kennacraig Ferry Terminal. This is available below and a customer update to support customers on what to expect is available here.

Check-in is 30 minutes prior to departure for vehicles and 10 minutes for foot passengers - otherwise space will be reallocated. Late check-in may also lead to the vehicle being refused carriage.

Book your ticket online in advance of travel - even if you're a foot passenger. When you book online, you will immediately receive an eTicket direct to your email inbox. Each eTicket has a QR code, meaning you'll instantly be ready to board. There's no need to print at home or collect your tickets at the port, eTickets can be scanned from your device.  

Making an online reservation for Islay - When booking travel to/from Islay online, please select the port you plan to travel to/from - either Port Ellen or Port Askaig. If your booking is for a return journey, and you are selecting different Islay ports for each leg, please use the 'multi-Island' booking feature, shown when prompted to select the ticket type you'd like. This feature can be used to bundle multiple journeys across our network and will allow customers to make a return booking with travel through different Islay ports.
