The perfect romantic breaks to Scotland's islands

Secluded retreats + breath-taking scenery = the perfect romantic getaway

If you're looking to make a romantic gesture to your significant other this year - then look no further than an idyllic getaway enjoying the epic romance of the Scottish Isles. The most romantic trip you have made to date is just a ferry ride away.

Treat yourself on Skye

If your perfect getaway involves a fabulous meal out, then make it even more memorable by sailing over the sea to Skye. The island abounds with world-class produce, especially seafood. There are so many places to enjoy the isle's glorious natural larder. Enjoy a stay in a historic destination which perfectly combines highland hospitality and world class food - from Kinloch Lodge in Sleat to the internationally acclaimed Three Chimneys at Colbost. Or for the perfect romantic delicacy, stop by the oyster man at the Oyster Shed, a farm shop and takeaway that's open all year round. You'll find it not far from Talisker Distillery, so the perfect location if you fancy a dram afterwards.

Take off for a date day on Arran

Whisk yourselves away for a romantic date day or short break on Arran. Pack your boots for a hike around Glen Sannox or Glen Rosa. If you're a more experienced hiker, the Arran Hills in winter offer another world of wild romantic allure all together, especially when they have a dusting of snow. The chances are you will only have the wildlife for company up there. Then, cosy up at one of the beautiful hotels on the island - for a spot of lunch or a wee dram by the fire - or a perfect overnight stay on the island.

If you're looking to make a romantic gesture to your significant other this year - then look no further than an idyllic getaway enjoying the epic romance of the Scottish Isles.

A secluded retreat on Coll

Coll is just a two-and-a-half-hour ferry ride away from Oban - the gateway to the isles. If your idea of romance is peaceful seclusion, then at this time of year, Coll is the perfect location. What's more - it is one of the best places in the world to star gaze since the nearest streetlamp is many miles away. Coll has been awarded the status of a Dark Sky Community by the International Dark-sky Association, making it one of only two official dark sky locations in Scotland, so make sure to head outside after sunset to take in a mind-blowing view of the heavens. Cosy up at the Coll Hotel afterwards, specialising in the area's rich larder. Perfection!

Remote romance on the Outer Hebrides

Whisk one another away to the Outer Hebrides - our most far-flung destination. Enjoy your adventure together, exploring the islands - from Lewis, Harris, North Uist, Benbecula, South Uist, Eriskay to Barra. Take a walk along the endless sandy beaches - at times they do look tropical, although at this time of year, they won't feel like it. That said, they are among the most stunning in the British Isles. During February, it will just be you and nature itself. Or explore the most remarkable sights the islands, and Scotland have to offer - like the Calanais Standing Stones. They've stood against the elements for 5,000 years. Warm up in front of the fire in a cosy pub and enjoy a glass of the local gins, each with their own distinctive coastal flavours.

Pack your bags - let's go!
