I’m travelling with my bike. What do I need to know?

Please dismount your bike before boarding the ferry and walk your bike onboard, along ramps, piers and slipways. Cycling shoes can slide easily on metal decks and polished wooden surfaces, so please take care to maintain your footing.

Bicycles will be stored in a designated area on the car deck, subject to availability, please follow the crew's directions.

On some routes space is limited, and it may not be possible to store all bicycles in an upright position.

Please note: Bicycles are classified as vehicles and therefore must board no later than the check-in closing time for cars. Final check in times vary from route to route and can be found on our timetable pages.

Bicycle tickets

Across every route, customers will need to add bike(s) to bookings, - meaning that you have more certainty about space. This ticket will remain free of charge.

If you're a foot passenger travelling with a bike, add a bicycle to your booking. Your reservation will be for a passenger(s) and bicycle(s).

If you're travelling in a vehicle with a bike rack, add a bike rack to your booking. Your reservation will be for passenger(s), vehicle(s) and bike racks - but you don't need to add the number of bikes separately.

If you are taking an e-bike on our ferries, please read our dedicated FAQ for important information on charging and travelling with electric bikes, scooters, etc.
