Still standing, 2,000 years on
Built in the first century AD, the Dun Carloway Broch is one of the best preserved examples of a complex drystone roundhouse. The walls are 3.8 metres thick and 9.2 metres high in places, and it was one of the first protected monuments in Scotland. Our Standing Stones Callanish Tour includes a visit to the Broch.
