Additional Arran sailings to be extended
CalMac has announced that following a successful trial period, MV Alfred will operate additional sailings between the mainland and Arran until August 2024.
In order to provide extra capacity, one extra return trip from Troon to Brodick and back was trialled every Friday throughout May. CalMac has now arranged with MV Alfred owners, Pentland Ferries, to extend this until 16 August.
CalMac interim CEO Duncan Mackison said: "The additional sailing proved to be popular, and feedback from the Arran community and customers has been very positive. We are committed to doing everything we can to provide a reliable service and what I hope this shows is that we have taken on board feedback from the local community and taken action to improve the current timetable and add vital capacity during the busy summer season."
MV Caledonian Isles is due to return to service by the end of August, with CalMac currently operating the service to Arran from both Ardrossan and Troon harbours on the mainland.
