Politicians applaud CalMac's community investment
Dozens of MSPs have shown their support for CalMac's community investment programmes by supporting a motion lodged in the Scottish Parliament.
Community initiatives run by CalMac include sponsorship of events and festivals, a partnership in the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative, and the recently launched Community Fund.
These efforts were highlighted in a motion lodged in the Scottish Parliament by Donald Cameron, MSP for the Highlands and Islands, which has received cross-party support.
In the motion, Mr Cameron states: "That the Parliament welcomes CalMac Ferries Community Investment Programmes, which aim to improve social and economic outcomes for west coast communities."
Gordon McKillop, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager for CalMac, said: "We are extremely proud to support our local communities, so this recognition from members of the Scottish Parliament is very welcome.
"Their support comes at the launch of the CalMac Community Fund 2020, and we will soon be seeking applications from non-profit organisations registered to the islands and ports we serve, which engage and deliver services for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people."
Applications for the CalMac Community Fund will open on 1st October 2020. For more information, visit: www.calmac.co.uk/community-fund.
