Customer FAQs - Summer 2024 Timetables

Customer FAQs

Why is the period from 1 October - 20 October not yet available to book?

Each year we must undertake mandatory overhaul - an annual maintenance period - for each vessel. Our plan for how vessels will be deployed during the start of the overhaul period is being worked on and is not yet confirmed. However, it may impact the remainder of the summer timetable. Therefore, as soon as this is completed, we will be able to release timetable details and bookings for the period 1 October - 20 October 2024, inclusive.

When will the period from 1 October - 20 October be available to book?

We don't yet have a date for this, however, as always, we will keep you informed of progress via our website and social media channels. Work is continuing at pace to finalise this detail for you.

Why are the Kennacraig-Islay timetables not available to view?

As per our previous communications, CMAL is leading infrastructure works at Kennacraig and Port Askaig. Work is continuing on the Kennacraig-Islay and Oban-Colonsay timetable to accommodate this and as a result these timetables are still being finalised. Further berthing trials are planned around the ongoing infrastructure works to support this. These are scheduled for late January, subject to suitable weather conditions. Timetables will be confirmed after this takes place. We apologise for this delay, and we will keep customers updated as this work progresses.

Why are Oban-Colonsay timetables not available to view?

As per our previous communications, CMAL is leading infrastructure works at Kennacraig and Port Askaig. Work is continuing on the Kennacraig-Islay and Oban-Colonsay timetable to accommodate this and as a result these timetables are not finalised. We apologise for this delay, and we will keep customers updated as this work progresses.

When will Kennacraig-Islay and Oban-Colonsay routes be available book?

We don't yet have a date for this; however, work is continuing to confirm this information. Further berthing trials are planned around the ongoing infrastructure works to support this. These are scheduled for late January, subject to suitable weather conditions. Timetables will be confirmed after this takes place. We will keep our customers updated via our website and social media platforms.

Why are bookings opening on a phased approach?

We are adopting a phased approach to releasing our timetables into our booking and ticketing system so that customers can access these as soon as they are ready, rather than waiting for all routes to be ready at the same time.

Can you tell me more about how decisions are made around summer timetable changes?

We undertake annual community consultations on winter and summer timetables each year, and this work is used to inform our decision. This information needs to be balanced with operational details (annual overhaul and vessel availability) as well as tidal and daylight information, which sometimes means that we cannot facilitate every request. However, we do our very best to listen and respond to needs wherever possible.

Who can I contact about the changes that have been made to the summer timetable?

Details on who can submit a timetable request on your behalf can be found here on our website.
