CalMac may be a business but above all they are a community partner and when called on will always go out their way to help.

Just ask Captain Andy Grant master of the MV Lord of the Isles. Captain Grant was on his usual passage from South Uist to Mallaig when a SOS call came through from a fishing vessel off the south coast of Skye. Answering the call a fast rescue craft was dispatched and the CalMac crew managed to reach the stricken vessel minutes before she disappeared below the waves.

With the rescued fisherman safely on board, Captain Grant returned the ferry to its original course for Mallaig harbour, where it arrived just 30 minutes later than scheduled.
