Wemyss Bay to reopen for Easter
CalMac services to Rothesay will restart from Wemyss Bay on Good Friday (March 25).
The pier has been closed for six months for essential repairs with services diverted to Gourock but will reopen for travel again in time for the Easter weekend.
Work carried out has included replacement of timber fenders, reconstruction of the pier end and refurbishment of the linkspan. The harbour has also been dredged.
All work has been carried out by harbour owner, Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL).
Ramsay Muirhead, Head of Civil Engineering, CMAL said:
"We are very pleased that this work is shortly due for completion, especially given the storms throughout the winter. Our contractor, George Leslie Ltd, has worked very hard to keep to the timetable and we are delighted to be re-opening the port in time for Easter weekend."
CalMac will carry out berthing trials at Wemyss Bay before the intended restart date.
"We would like to thank all our passengers for their patience over the past few months and we look forward to getting back to a normal service again," said CalMac, director of operations, Drew Collier.
