South West Mull and Iona Development
South West Mull and Iona Development was set up to tackle the issues which local people think are important, in order to make our community more socially, economically, and environmentally resilient and sustainable.
Last year SWMID invited a non-profit CIC called Woodland Tribe to help the community build an adventure playground in Tiroran Community Forest, and now plan to organise a Children's Natural Playground Training day. This event will make a difference to people living in SWMID's operating area by enabling them to achieve one of the community's longest standing goals; the creation of more playgrounds.
This event will firstly leave a legacy of pride in their community-owned space, by enabling them to keep the playground open and preserve Woodland Tribe's ethos of trusting and celebrating children's creativity while "reaffirming their rights as active citizens".
