Small Isles Freight Service Redevelopment
Small Isles Freight Service Redevelopment Island Communities Impact Assessment (ICIA)
Our stakeholder consultation was completed in 2022 on our proposition to make improvements to the Small Isles freight service. Feedback was collated and mapped into a document which aligns with the Scottish Government's "Island Communities Impact Assessment (ICIA)" framework for ease of use.
The ICIA is a collaborative process and one which we feel has worked particularly effectively here. It has supported us in ensuring our communities have been listened to and their needs truly considered.
The attached document goes into the feedback in greater detail, however there are a few key messages we wish to highlight:
There will be no change to the to the existing weight limit (1 tonne limit will remain) or on pricing - as confirmed by Transport Scotland
Creation of freight service definition in line with feedback from community and freight needs is required
Focus on process improvements
Alignment to the Scottish Government's Island Community Impact Assessment ICIA as part of the Islands (Scotland) Act 2018, Section 7, Section 8 and Section 12.
